Luna

Luna is the first puppy I have ever raised and the first dog I have interacted with on a daily basis!  So I needed a lot of training myself.  She's a smart loving girl who's eager to please and Laura taught me how to begin interacting with and training her.  Without those fundamental building blocks I'm not sure what I would have done.  Her emphasis on consistency and explanations of why dogs respond to certain ways of speaking/playing helped me so much.  I loved how small the class was, it allowed for a lot of individualized attention and a very calm (puppies calm? haha!) training environment.  The puppy play time was not only fun for the pups and entertaining to watch, but it demonstrated to me the importance of play in raising a well socialized dog.  I found our trainer Laura to be exceedingly helpful and patient.  She even arranged make up classes when I had another obligation and when I moved out of town she recommended a secondary puppy training class close to my family's home.  Thank you Laura and Tails-A-Wagging!  Luna loved your class and so did I.

Rufus

We really enjoyed Puppy Kindergarten, it has really helped us start off on the right “paw” and stay focused on the daily effort that is required to properly train our challenging young lab mix.  We are learning how NOT to raise Marley and we look forward to our next class, Puppy Prep School. Laura had the knowledge, experience and PATIENCE required to help us with all our needs, and was readily available for questions and specific concerns.

Carmen was a great teacher.  She was patient when owners asked questions.  Angi was patient and understanding.  Thank you, you guys are awesome.

Cordy

Thank you Angi, and our instructor Laura. We came in with a young hyper sensitive/reactive pup and through the help of Laura, our wonderful instructor who gave us a private lesson, really helped not only turn Cordy into an actually "happy" dog, but taught us the basics on the care he needs to become a sweet, loving and obedient (which we are still working on) pup.
I would HIGHLY recommend Tails a Wagging to anyone and everyone.

Oscar
Oscar and I took the Ruff Around the Edges class with Laura.  He was 14 months old and a still a very shy, frightened puppy. He did not interact with other dogs and barked incessantly when scared by people.  He was so neurotic and incontinent at home I was worried I would have to give him up.
Her kind, patient manner won him over immediately.  She had him eating her treats the first class.  By letting him learn at his own pace, he blossomed over the course of the 6 weeks to actually sitting on command and doing tricks.  She gave us recommendations for herbal doggie downers, a pheromone collar and a comforting "Thundershirt", all of which calmed him naturally to the point where he could focus.  This loving little dog was nearly impossible when we began class and now he has hope.  Our whole family thinks you and Laura for offering this wonderful class and her expertise!!

Dobbs
Angi and her crew are by far the best and only place to take your best buddy! We have been taking our dog to tails-a-wagging for almost about a year and a half with our almost 2 year old pup. We have our dog in at daycare 2 days a week which has helped his socialization around all dogs, people and that shows when around kids too. The...re is a bit of a waiting list for daycare, but don't be discouraged stay on that list because your pup will never love you more after he has a day at tails.

The training classes with Laura are fun and very useful for you and your pets. They are reward based training only! with some online research you will find this to be the best way to train and should be the only method of training in most opinions. You can check up on your pet through their webcams online which is a nice bonus also, everything and anything you ever need to know or do for your dog Tails-a-Wagging (especially Angi) can either provide or you can trust them to find you the info or people you need. Thank You Tails-A-Wagging and keep up the good work

Murphy
Tails A Wagging is the best place ever for dogs to spend the day. My two dogs have been coming every day for 4 years and I wouldn't change this for anything. I can count on excellent care, enough activity to wear them out, and all the information I need to be the best pet owner I can be. Angi has helped me learn to work with my little reactive dog and he's learning to be a model citizen with her help. And the classes that they offer are absolutely the best. I did not know how much training helps you bond with your dog. It's wonderful. I'm a much better pet owner because of the owners and staff at Tails.

Zuri (L) vs Patos (R)

My experiences at Tails have been nothing but fantastic and exceedingly helpful. These classes are not only a major high point of my weekly schedule but helped me time and time again keep Patos and myself happy and communicative. Laura is an amazing trainer who has an obvious and infectious passion for dogs and is wonderfully approachable with any question, concern, comment or conversation. I can’t wait to take more class from her. I can’t speak highly enough about Tails and will be continuing my time there for as long as I have a dog (which will undoubtedly be the rest of my life). If you are considering Tails-a-Wagging for work with your dog the best I can say is that there is nothing better you can do for yourself and your dog then to take them to Tails, my time here has not only tightened my bond with Patos but has ensured that Patos and I will have a happy well socialized and communicative relationship not only with each other but with the community as well.

Cody

We thoroughly enjoyed the class. Carmen is a calm and patient instructor.  She makes puppy training seem so easy. She used all the puppies during her “demonstrations” of a new command/behavior which was great as they all had different temperaments.  Carman was also great about reviewing commands each week that were learned the previous week. We loved the puppy pre-school as well.  Basically, from the first phone call/email/meeting, Angi was very helpful and responsive.  She has great customer service and because of that, we keep coming back! Carmen was our next contact, and, again, we were very impressed with the professionalism of your business-the business of loving dogs!

Dirt face Harley

Laura was great with Harley in all of his classes, she was confident with him and understands the Siberian Husky breed.

Chloe

We have taken three different classes and have loved each of them.  Chloe loves the interaction with all of the other puppies and has grown in each of the classes.  Carmen and Laura are fantastic teachers.   Now---if I could just get Chloe to behave when she is with her brother, Bailey, maybe they would be allowed to attend daycare at the same time.  (And I thought raising kids was a challenge!!)  You just have to love the Puppy Stage!  Thanks for all that you do for our little fluff balls.

Bilbo Doggins

Bilbo absolutely adores Laura!  She made the class fun and interesting for everyone involved, and is a terrific instructor (for dogs AND people)!  We're in the middle of our Puppy Prep classes, and I can say for certain that Laura is amazing!  We've also been to the Doggie Socials, and Carmen is wonderful (Lizzie, too)!  We love all of you!

Panzer

I really enjoyed this class. The students were well behaved even when big kids were trying to pick mine up! I really enjoyed learning from Laura and enjoy every interaction with other staff at TAW. Everyone is very helpful, polite, and looking out for the best interest of my "kid" while making the process completely a joy for me. I highly recommend this for anyone.

Pedro

Julie is an amazing teacher, she misses nothing. This has to be the most interesting class I have been involved with. I had a great time and so did Pedro. We both learned lots, Pedro did better than I did. With Julie as his teacher his only learning disability is his handler (that would be me). Can't wait for the next session. It's just too much fun.

We love working with Julie, we found her super knowledgeable. Julie is focused, fast and a very good instructor.  She challenges us to succeed and she is a joy to be with.

Boomer

Boomer is my 3rd dog to participate in Tails obedience classes.  I have never been disappointed – both “train the puppy” and “train the owner” have been quite successful. I routinely recommend Tails for obedience and day care.  Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and always helpful.  With any “pet issue de jour”, I know I will get an informative answer about what to do, or a great referral to a pet resource.  All of my furry babies love Tails!

Gwennie
I have adopted many dogs over the years and they have all been best friends and loving companions but this is the first time I have participated in an obedience class. I didn't think it was necessary.  When we adopted our Border Collie puppy Gwennie in February I decided to give it a try.   I could not believe how much fun and how useful it has been!  Laura is amazing.  She really is a dog whisperer.  She taught us how to really connect in a way with our puppy that is both helpful and fun.  Gwennie is so much more well adjusted than any dog her age that I have ever had.  Laura has taught us how to help Gwennie understand what we're asking of her and made it easy for Gwennie to comply. Laura taught us that a "bad" puppy is really the product of an ignorant owner.
Laura is so wonderful that we asked her to come to the house for a couple of private lessons.  That one on one time was also so helpful.  Laura was able to help us address some of issues we were having with our 5 year old Border Collie, Arthur.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the classes - the time just flies by and its so much fun to see the puppies interact.  Being around other puppies and learning obedience with that kind of distraction has been extremely useful.
We plan on attending all of the classes offered at Tails-A-Wagging and hope that we get Laura every time.  Gwennie and I heartily recommend this class to any puppy and her "parent".

Jill & Barry Levenson & Gwennie

Bailey

Bailey is a 1 yr. old Terrier mix with lots of energy and curiosity. We got her from the pound and realized that she had some "issues", but she did great in the class and is still being trained. It is very satisfying to go to the dog park and compare behaviors of other dogs and owners.  She's not the best, but way better than most. I am a little biased, parental pride. The training is a great start and a must for new dogs to the family, no matter what age.

Mirka

At first honestly we were concerned about bringing Mirka to Tails because she is a German Shepherd. We had heard several stories of German Shepherd puppies not having positive experiences. We had been there several times with Harley and felt we should give the class with Mirka a chance. We felt like Laura was not 'into' German Shepherds at first. BOY we were wrong, she has been so sweet, honest and great with Mirka. I am thrilled that we have the relationship with Tail's and Laura she has given us tools for redirecting 'bad' behavior and has NEVER said one negative thing about our German Shepherd's behavior. We are so happy to be part of the Tail's a Wagging "family" and would like to tell Laura, Angie, Carmen and ALL the day care staff how much they mean to us and our "princess" Mirka. Thank you! Laura has introduced Mirka to the rally sport and she loves to 'work' I feel like Laura has made Mirka the awesome puppy she is today, it would have been a nightmare trying to do this alone.

Iggy "I'm very excited"

I have never encountered a class like this before, and I would sign up for another similar one. We really like the general classes, like Fabulous Fido and Beyond Basic. it was fun, but also hard work and very rewarding. Thanks!

Bagger

Carmen offered a class that met our needs as the dogs' and owners and those of the dogs who own us! We wanted a class with basic obedience and we received more than basic obedience! We received Carmen's enthusiastic support for our effort and the dogs' effort in getting us on track for a more positive relationship! We feel more encouraged that we can have better trained and happier dogs with her guidance. We look forward to the next class!

Rusty

We got Rusty from the Humane Society and were required to sign up for an obedience class as part of our adoption.  I am SO glad that this is part of the Humane Societies policy.  Being first time dog owners, the class was invaluable.  Now we are signed up for Puppy Prep school and looking forward to learning more!

Bailey AKA: "Super Puff"
I love Tails.  I am always informed of Bailey’s progress (or concerns) and able to ask questions and get knowledgeable answers. I have appreciated Angie’s thoughts, recommendations, etc. on what’s best for my puppy.  He is full of energy and I have to learn in how to manage it in the right way.  Even though he’s as cute as ever, doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not naughty at times.  (I have to keep reminding myself about that.) Thanks for all you do for Bailey and me.

Roy and his Boy

Laura was great with our pooch. She spent time with all the individual dogs, and made them feel comfortable and safe. And the training really works! Now he can do down, downstay, sit, sitstay, come, and some additional tricks like roll over and shake hands. Plus agility tasks. When we drive to Tails- a- wagging, Roy gets very happy and prancy. We would highly recommend Tails-a-wagging to any age, breed, or personality of dogs.

McKenzie & Samson
My husband and I own Golden Retriever “littermates” and they both attended two of Laura Berger’s classes: Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy Prep.  Aside of Laura’s jovial personality, she has an incredible talent with all breeds.  Because we took a total of 4 classes (2 for each pup), we were able to experience/observe a great deal of her handling capabilities with a variety of puppy issues and can honestly commend her positive training techniques.  We had an excellent experience and would highly recommend her as an obedience trainer and Tails-A-Wagging services. We are currently in Beyond Basics, which is offered by Carmen – another talented trainer.

Brandi

I thought Laura, was great at handling and teaching us how to handle our dogs.  Easy going and easy to understand.  Brandi had a lot of fun being a "referee" to the other dogs during free playtime. We all thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the class.

Frank
Carmen is amazing. I believe she is as good with the humans as she is with the dogs. After all, she is traing us how to train our dogs. She has given much of her "off Class" time to help me with problem behaviors that we have encountered at home, and they WORK! I love the reward based training. It is the best way to have the best relationship with your dog I believe. I would love to take more classes at Tails-A-Wagging and especially with Carmen, and Franks LOVES the socials and classes.

Junior

We got Junior from the Humane Society, and they required that  he be enrolled in obedience class, but I would recommend the class to all puppies, no matter where they came from.

Maddie

I just wanted to let Laura know how thrilled I was with how much my Airedale Maddie learned during Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy Prep School. Before taking the first class I was very concerned that my dog was going to be too much of a handful...much more energetic than my other dog. Laura made the class fun for my dog (and me) and in just a couple of weeks she had Maddie bold enough to climb the stairs to class--something she refused to do when I first brought her. As Maddie advanced through to Puppy Prep School, all I could think of was "uh-oh" when she was confronted with the agility training. Amazingly, through Laura's patient and encouraging training style, Maddie was actually able--and willing--to complete all the exercises and graduated with her fellow classmates. Laura...I can't believe how much progress you made with my dog. Thanks so much!

Jazzy

As a first time puppy owner, puppy kindergarten was everything I'd hoped for...lots of puppy socialization time and complete answers for all the questions I had about my new puppy. Laura has a vast knowledge of dog behaviors from her years of experience with dog handling (a well as lots of comical canine "obedience" stories that she shares). I always felt comfortable speaking up in class if I had a question or didn't understand something. The sessions progressed at a comfortable pace, included all the basics how-to's and gave me the skills that I needed to continue training my puppy beyond the 6-week class. Of course, the best thing is that I now have a puppy who listens to me and is well on her way to be being a confident, well socialized, friendly and obedient dog.

Stryker

I found Laura to be very entertaining and knowledgeable.  I was very impressed with her ability to remember all the dog's names and personalities.  Every class was a pleasure to attend.

Sandy & Chris Hughes (with baby Stryker)

The class was a great experience and Laura was wonderful.  We loved the play time to see Monk interact with the other puppies, if class was longer I would of liked even more play time! I also wished we worked more on walking on a leash, maybe more in Prep School.

Gertie

We wish to wholeheartedly thank you and your incredible team for the consistent and excellent care of our sweet Gertie. From the early stages of puppyhood and her behavioral issues, to her ongoing struggles with building a healthy immune system, you and your team have been very conscientious, loving and dedicated to her training, socialization and health. We wouldn’t have the fantastic dog that we have now without your amazing assistance.

Angi, we especially appreciate your thorough K-9 knowledge and advice on the many questions and concerns that we’ve had for Gertie over the past year. You and your team have always been there for us and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Sincerely,
Rebecque and Charles Asher (and “Gert Squirt”)

Henry

Puppy Kindergarten was such a great experience for Henry and my husband and I as well.  We all learned a lot.  Laura is a great teacher and the dogs respond to her so well.  By the time we finished with the class, Henry was much better behaved.  He knows some basic commands and doesn’t bark wildly like he did at the beginning of the class.  He still has a lot to learn and we plan on continuing on with Puppy Prep.

Dobbie

My original intent for taking this class was to get Dobbie more socialized and keep him from barking and snapping at other dogs.  I didn’t think we would learn any obedience, because he has difficulty seeing and is deaf.  He already knew “sit” with a touch command, and we figured that was about all he could do.  We also figured he wouldn’t react to hand signals because he doesn’t see well.  (He has no depth perception, and he has Nystagmus, and can’t focus very well.)  However, Laura encouraged us to try hand signals, which we tried.  Dobbie figured this out very quickly, and responded well.  He ended up not being able to perform all the different obedience skills that were presented in the class (for example, “Leave it” doesn’t work well with him, nor does “heeling”), but he now understands hand signals, and OBEYS! them, for “Sit,” “Down,” “Stay,” “Come,” and “Wait.”  He has been transformed with this class!  We spent several class sessions in the “hallway” because he got over stimulated with all the dogs in class, plus he was disruptive to others with lunging and barking.  However, for the last two classes, we got to spend them INSIDE the training room because Dobbie demonstrated that his focus was better – and he was able to pay attention to us, even though every once and a while his attention would waver.  BUT, the good news is, he kept coming back to us and re-focused on us quickly!  He did so well – he far surpassed my expectations with any types of obedience training, and we’ll keep trying to work on the socialization aspect and try to minimize his barking and lunging with other means that Laura gave us suggestions for..

Chris, Guy & Dobbie

Laura was great- she was attentive to every dog and quickly figured out the best way to work with each one based on the dogs personality, habits and the concerns of the owner.
We have plenty of classes we would like to take in the future!  We look forward to starting day care with Ruby later this month.

Ida "Sweet as a Daisy"
What a wonderful workshop, Young at Heart, this Saturday.  It is wonderful to learn and learn.
Carmen was full of information on Senior dogs, but really it applied to all age dogs,  She told us about the water therapy in Lynden.  How nice not to have to go to Canada. Less expensive also.
Other suggestions were to keep up training, take different paths when walking. Seeking games were wonderful and then there was a bit of dancing. What fun. And read and read as there is new information out.
Shannon is top notch. Very quiet and so full of knowledge that we only touched the surface of what massage; especially TTouch . We all got individual time and were shown how hard or not hard to apply some of the different touches.  Shannon also gave each human a little bit so we would know what our dogs were feeling.
I cannot thank Carmen and Shannon enough for the workshop.

Thank you Angie and Jason for keeping everyone enjoying new and needed things for our dogs and ourselves.
Ida, Lisa and Ken

I have trained dogs in the past using choke collars and have found the techniques used in this class to be more effective for the individual dogs I took thru training sessions before. I was somewhat skeptical with using your methods, but now I believe these methods DO work well.

Thank you,

We truly loved Carmen & her training techniques worked very well with Bentley. Oh, and he loved her too!

THANK YOU,

I have a 1 1/2 yr old yellow lab with way too much energy, who need time to mature. I exercise him like crazy, but it still never seems to be enough. Carmen helped me put his youth in the proper perspective.  This was our fourth class together (Jonah and me) and I believe, by far, this was the most enriching for BOTH of us.  As an instructor, Carmen has an easy going, comfortable style that make it simultaneously fun and challenging. I never felt frustrated. She gave ME positive feedback, not just Jonah- shaping our behavior to achieve desired results. She took a personal interest in each dog, noting their strengths and weaknesses. No other instructor has ever done that with us and I would love to repeat this class!

Zoey
Carmen is just great at opening up the dogs to the new experiences. My young dog is very shy and kept hiding behind me an going behind the chair when we first got there, in a short time she was eager to come to class and so delighted to see Carmen and to do all the fun tricks she taught. We're ready to learn whatever Zoey seems eager for. We can't wait for more

The "Help, My dog won't come" workshop was not only fun but most informative. We were given cue words and the idea of using a toy or food to reward ones dog when they come.
Carmen is an excellent instructor. Very calm in her approach of teaching. It is so nice when you know that the instructor only wants success for everyone.

Lisa and Ida

Laura was wonderful! You can tell she really enjoys what she does.  We had a great experience and we were amazed how quickly Mira picked up cues and tricks. Laura tempered her expertise with a fun sense of humor and answered questions easily and clearly.  I'm looking forward to having her as the instructor for our next class!

My compliments to the staff for being understanding to every dogs needs on an individual basis.  This rings especially true with Pixies instructor Laura. Pixie is a handful of excited, contained energy! Regardless of all this Laura never gave up on Pixie. She was always very patient, very encouraging and very understanding and she always took the time to answer any questions I had or help me address any issues Pixie had. She always included Pixie in every lesson despite her exuberance this providing Pixie with a nurturing environment.

Thank you!

Maggie Mae
Laura is wonderful. She always gives good, solid advice for dealing with Maggie's behaviors.  she really helped us.  In class, she showed lots of patience towards all the students.  We were amazed at how easily she could get a dog to respond.  We look forward to taking more classes at TAW.

I was very impressed with the entire experience.  Laura is a wonderful trainer- helpful and understanding too!  I'm happy we chose TAW. I learned more that I expected too> I am amazed at home well it all works. It took the mystery out of training my dog.

Owen
Laura is an amazing teacher. We came into Puppy Kindergarten not knowing how to help our pup reach his highest potential and we left class with an amazing well behaved dog. This class far surpassed out expectation and we are excited for future classes at Tails-A-Wagging

Duke

Obedience class was mandatory for me to adopt Duke from the Humane Society, since he was  a pitbull. I was expecting a much different attitude from the staff at Tails-A-Wagging since I had gotten such a negative response from other people about his breed.  Angela was great and totally understood the stereotype of the AM STAFFS as did Laura when I started class. Duke is the most loving dog ever and Laura really saw that which made me feel good about the whole experience.  THANK YOU!

Duke and Kerrie

The class was fun. I enjoyed  watching all the puppies socialize and learn new things. I now know how to properly walk my puppy even when he "puts on the brakes" : )  I have practiced what I have learned from the class and my puppy and I work together as a team!  Thanks!

Baker
Dear Laura,
Puppy Prep was a another great learning experience for us and Baker.  We have all learned so much with your help and are grateful to be able to share this information with our dog.  Thank you for taking the time to create such a great program. We look forward to future classes.

Rolli at Ocean Shores
Hello my name is Rolli. I was rescued from a puppy mill when I was 7 months old and I have lots of issues because of the life there. I started coming to Tails-A-Wagging in April 2008 with my brother Kakoa ( who had gone to puppy kindergarten and loved it) that was before I came into his family. Unlike him I am very shy, reserved and didn't care being around other dogs and people I was scared of everything.
Now 6 months later I can't wait to get to daycare I get so excited and I have my tail up and wagging when I get there. The staff is awesome with me and I love playing with all of my buddies. We get to run and play and I feel safe. My owners know I am being cared for while I'm at daycare and given positive reinforcement, my mommy even watching me on the web camera from her work.   I have more courage and feel confinement now because of  the staff that takes good care of me when I am at daycare. I come home so tired from having so much fun. I even get my nails done with Jessica at Pampered Pet Grooming. Jessica just comes over and takes me back to her grooming room and I get my nails trimmed and she takes me back to my buddies.
While on vacation my owners and brother went to the river and I was so brave I took off and went swimming, I loved it and had so much fun.
I want to say THANK YOU to Tails-A-Wagging because now I feel like a dog should feel.

Rolli

P.S.
Rolli's owners want to thank Tails-A-Wagging for everything you do. The staff is wonderful will our dogs, we feel so lucky to have such a wonderful daycare for our little guys. Angi you always give me good advise.

Thank you, Devona & Dan Mott

Tessie
Tessie and Puppy Kindergarten Class

The class was better that I even hoped or thought it would be.  Group as well as individual attention was amazing, and Laura's energy and attitude was perfect.  Dogs can be "made"  to perform, but her style clearly shows a belief that it is more fun and rewarding to work with the dogs, which I greatly appreciate.  The best part, though- was the toy on graduation night.  That is one of those extra special touches that shows true care and consideration.  It was a nice surprise for us and for Tessie as well. She is clearly proud of it and I believe she knows she earned it.

Thank you, Kathy Gilden and Tessie

Kathy and Tessie took another class with us and asked us to add her thoughts.

"Another amazing experience with Laura.  As with kindergarten, training focused on encouragement over force and praise over fear.  it's a philosophy that is positive and instinctive, and most important, it works.  The use of agility items is such a fun and fantastic idea.  Not only does it help dogs of that age develop a sense of self-awareness, but I think it also creates a bond of trust between dogs and "owner."  Despite a couple of 'corgi moments,' I know Tessie had a lot of fun with it, because it's exciting and a challenge, and it allowed her to put all that physical and mental energy to work.  A great class, a wonderful trainer, and another example of Tails-A-Wagging's high standards."

Once again, Laura has shown herself to be a trainer and dog guru who shares the skills and philosophies of Victoria Stillwell, Turid Rugaas and Stanley Coren.  I believe its infinitely more enjoyable (for both) to train a dog when you know how she thinks and what motivate her...and how to make activity fun and interesting.  Laura has great understanding of all these things and seems to be able to with any dog, from the shy shelter rescue to the short of attention span herding dog (like my Tessie) and not just work with them, but get them to shine.

Our latest class was rally obedience.  The good things:  its highly entertaining.  It helps build that all important bond with you dog, it further helps the dog understand that she can trust you and it definitely teaches your dog that she needs to pay attention to you when you are walking together.  If she doesn't she will be left going in the other direction while you go in the other.  Even the most stubborn dog can benefit form this class, as well as the most well behaved.
The bad things: its more of an intelligence test for humans!  Which is not really a bad thing. Why should all the pressure be on the dog to perform correctly? Its a team effort! So I could forgive Tessie for her mistakes if she can forgive me for mine.  Which is good because I believe I made more mistakes in the final test than she did !

I can see why rally obedience is one of the fasted-growing activities for dogs. I think that truly any dog, as long as they know basic commands, can participate and do well.  The perfect angel isn't going to be bored, and the slightly more challenging dog is not going to be overwhelmed.  I recommend rally to anyone who wants to teach their dog some obedience, while hiding behind a whole lot of fun.

April
Mayia
When I first came to Tails-A-Wagging five years ago and met Angie, Jason and their exceptional caregivers, I was, at the least, the desperate, discouraged human companion of a sweet, loving little 7lb. Maltese queen bee named Mayia.

Why desperate and discouraged you ask?  Because at the blink of an eye or the wag of a curly tail, my little "Angel" would morph from my cute little darling lap warmer to a raging, out of control, barking, snarling, killer attack dog ready to do battle with all dogs that had the misfortune of coming within the range of her eyesight. Whether a toy Yorkie or a St. Bernard, she had no preference---one and all would be devoured alive, if she could just get past the end of her leash!  This did not endear us to anyone at the local parks or trails!!

Mayia and I had been through several programs, but all to no avail.  So I brought her to Tails as a last resort, fully convinced I had an uncontrollable anti-social 7lb. attack dog on my hands. I just needed final confirmation.  Well, Angie met Mayia, and immediately Pish-Toshed my attack dog theory and respectfully pointed out several behavioral traits of MINE (can you IMAGINE???----It could be ME!!!!) that were in direct violation of the "How to create a happy well-adjusted successful dog" good owner's manual.  She took us under her wing, gave me books to read, spent countless hours counseling me on EVERYTHING from food, to leashes, to harnesses, to safe driving practices, to boarding, to training treats and methods, to medical advise. Mayia immediately thrived and flourished, and made all kinds of friends, both two and four legged!!!  She now loves to come to daycare every week with her sister April who is a Toy Poodle.  I got April after I had the benefit of several years of human behavior modification training with Angie.  April does not suffer from attack dog syndrome. SHE got to take advantage of the outstanding Tails positive reward based training program, and she is now a sweet friendly 3-year-old that loves to take walks and greet all the new sights, sounds, people and pets with happiness and enthusiasm!

Angie, Jason and their staff are not mere doggie babysitters!!!!!!  They are dedicated, knowledgeable, capable professionals who have made pet care and pet owner education their life's passion!  They have contributed in so many untold ways to the well-being of so many animals in our community.  They have invested countless hours and personal resources in helping rescue, foster, feed, clothe and provide for so many animals.  If not for their unflagging energy and dedication, so many homeless, unwanted, abused, neglected animals would be lost.  Instead, they have helped bring these animals together with loving humans many, who like me, have the heart, but just need the extra TLC in the education and training department!

Every day at TailA-Wagging they work tirelessly with each dog entrusted to their care, honing their skills and manners while at the same time loving them and bringing out the very best traits in every dog.  Whether a dog is there one day a week or five, they are happy, tired, and content when they come homes-, and they are always ready to get back to their daycare friends and family!

I have told everyone I know, and anyone else I could get to listen, about Tails-A-Wagging.  They have willingly helped us SO much over the years, and more importantly, they have helped me be a better companion for my dogs.

Thank You, doesn't begin to describe it, however Thank You just about sums it up.

"I've got your back"

I have been taking my girl Rachel to daycare since April 2003, shortly after adopting her from the Whatcom Humane Society. She had a rough beginning in life and was quite shy and nervous at daycare but between Angie, Jason, the staff, and the other dogs, she has leapt milestones in terms of her confidence and adjustment. Angie is a wealth of knowledge and has been a huge help in helping me understand why dogs do what they do. I am also eternally grateful to her for getting me and my second adoptee, Kenny, together this past June (2007). Anybody who is considering doggie daycare, will not go wrong choosing Tails, it has been the best place for my “babies!”  I have heard of no other place that can even come close to matching their level of professionalism, dedication, and knowledge. Thanks Angie, Jason, and the rest of the staff for everything!!!!

Fuzzy Joey
Extra Fuzzy Louis

I was so blessed to find Tails-A-Wagging. What a difference it has made for my dogs, Joey, the terrier; Louis, the labradoodle; and for me. I used to worry about them while at work…I felt guilty leaving them alone. Friends and co-workers kept telling me to check out Tails-A-Wagging. I found Tails was just what we needed – Joey and Louis are well-cared for, have a blast, and get attention all day long. I don’t worry about them being lonely or bored. Tails has a learning environment with positive reinforcement, so they are learning, while playing – a huge bonus for us. We’ve been going to Tails-A-Wagging for nearly two years and with every visit, I’m more impressed. The staff is caring, gentle, and well-trained. I realized this more in the last few months, when I got a new puppy, and lost my older dog, Tanna. Through these transitions, I found the Tails-A-Wagging staff cared deeply. They have the knowledge and expertise to truly make a difference. They helped with training and advice with the new puppy, and gave just as much support and attention to my other dogs. Whether it was my ten year old geriatric dog, the three year old, or the puppy, there are age-appropriate activities. Even in the heat of the summer, Tails-A-Wagging has cool and refreshing activities. Tails-A-Wagging offers so much more -- immunization reminders, grooming and training. The hours are perfect for us. I’m able to drop the dogs off before work and pick them up after work, without having to rush. The facility is spacious and sparking clean. Angie’s keeps everything running smoothly and matches our needs with their schedule. And, Tails-A-Wagging has WebCams, so I can pop on-line to see what Joey and Louis are doing –anytime!

Bizzy the Bear
When Barry and I brought Bizzy our Schipperke home, we quickly realized we needed some guidance on this special breed! We bought the books, and went to enroll in a puppy class elsewhere only to be told by the instructor that Schipperkes are "difficult" and "tough to train" . . . . I found Tails and called up and was so thrilled to hear Angi say she had a Schipperke (Willy) too and they would be delighted to have her in a puppy kindergarten class.

Since that first day in class, we have been Tails regulars, and Bizzy goes to daycare 3 times a week. Thanks to Tails, Bizzy is a fun, well behaved, very happy pooch and we are so grateful for all the training WE'VE received to help this process. Jason and Angi are our "go-to" people whenever we have a question, whether it's health, training, or grooming related - we never feel like our questions are too silly! Bizzy just loves daycare and we  appreciate being able to peek in on her antics via the webcam.

We love being part of the Tails "home" and meet Tails people everywhere we go. And for those folks thinking daycare might be a little too extravagant or unnecessary, think again! We weren't sure about it at first (I work from home and figured I could handle everything and anything!) but Tails is the best investment we have made with our pup. The Tails team is the best!

Rally O is terrific! It's a fun way to work on obedience with our furry friends and the classes with Laura offer their share of challenges and laughs. The various commands are inviting in their simplicity but the real challenge comes in mastering them PERFECTLY and then within the context of a course! I am learning so much about teaching my dogs how to read my body language and how to better communicate with them. I don't know who is learning more - my schipperkes or me! Rally is a great way to build a partnership with your dog, regardless of whether you want to compete or not. I highly recommend this class.

Jazzie in HER chair

Yes, I send the Queen to Tails a Wagging.  Jazzie joined me when she was two and a half years old.  She was only going to come to my home for the weekend and that was seven and a half years ago.  She has been the joy of my life.

When I was working, I sent Jazzie to daycare so that she would not be alone.  But when I retired I briefly thought about having her stay home.  I felt that maybe I was being a bad “mom” by sending her away every day.

However, she loves daycare and the contact with other dogs and people makes her very social and mellow.  She watches for the bark mobile from HER chair at the window and practically knocks Jason down when he comes in to get her.  I know she is not as active as when she first went to daycare but she loves and needs the interaction.

Angi and Jason have been so helpful and caring.  When I was on a trip to New York, Angi called me and kept me informed as to Jazzie’s missing me.  If I have any questions or concerns, I feel I can call them any time during the day and they will help and/or just listen.

The service that Tails-A-Wagging provides for pet owners is invaluable both for the dogs and the owners.  I am so pleased that the program is available.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ANGI, JASON AND THE STAFF AT TAILS!

Sincerely, Jan Polen (the Queen’s attendant)

Alice: "Cool toes"
Alice is a 3-year-old mini-Dachshund who spent the first 2 1/2 years of her life as a companion to my elderly mother. Mother gave Alice lots of love and attention, but could not give her the training and socialization that all pups need. When Mother was no longer able to adequately care for her, Alice came to live with my husband and me. Alice was used to ruling the roost and had no limitations while she lived with my mother, so she came to us with bad habits, and a stubborn attitude.

After 4 months in our home, my frustration with Alice was a its peak. I called Angi and explained our situation. I knew it could be a long shot to get Alice socialized at her age but Angi was willing to spend time working with her. Angi gradually introduced Alice to other dogs one at a time, and to the TAW staff as well. Alice had always acted so terrified of any other dog that the fur stood up on her back and she barked so furiously, and so non-stop that every encounter with another dog was an ordeal. Human strangers were also a great cause of anxiety for her. To my amazement, Alice showed enough acceptable responses that Angi said she should come the rest of the week to further her socialization.

Initially Alice stood at the door of the "littles" playroom, and just waited for a human to come "rescue" her. But now she plays with other dogs. She has also learned to sit, sit up, and roll over. She has learned to walk on a Gentle Leader and can be around other dogs (large and small) and handle herself in a very acceptable manner. To me it's a miracle, she's a much happier little girl and is certainly more pleasant to be around.

Angi & Jason are amazing people who really understand dog behavior. Their love for all of the animals in their care is always evident, and I am very grateful they were there for us.

Thank you Angi & Jason, and all the TAW staff! Claudia Wagner

Twinkles: w/ her dingle toy

I’m so glad we in the Bellingham Community have Tails-A-Wagging Day Care!!  Twinkles, my little pug, loves to go and wishes she could play with puppies 7 days a week!  She sits by the door each morning waiting for the Bark Mobile to arrive and turns into a wiggle worm to get out there and get to Tails.

As I’m a first time puppy owner, Jason and Angie have been such mentors, helping me become a much better and more responsible pet mom.  They both have miles of patience and are willing to answer my questions and work with me when Twinkles and I have come upon some stumbling blocks in our training.

Being a primary school principal, my hours sometimes are unpredictable, but I know that Twinkles is being cared for and loved each day by people who truly enjoy animals.  In February 2006, Twinkles injured her eye at home and needed medicine hourly along with constant monitoring.  Angi, Jason and the staff at Tails didn’t even hesitate to take Twinkles, giving her the care she needed while I was a work.  Her injury healed very quickly and I know it is because of Tails.

Twinkles and I can’t thank Angi, Jason, and the staff at Tails-A-Wagging enough for being our day care provider.

 Sincerely Twinkles and Nancy Bakarich

Lucas: Always ready for a photo op

From the moment we pull into the parking lot, Lucas, my rambunctious 1 ½ year old Aussie mix starts getting excited.  He bolts from the car and runs inside where he is greeted by his two and four legged friends.  I breathe a sigh of relief, as does Jesse, his 10-year-old Aussie sister.  For the next 8 hours we will both have a bit of peace and quiet.  At the end of the day, I pick him up where he happily greets me. I read his “report card” which tells me all the fun stuff he did, who he played with and what kind of snack he had.  Halfway home he is sound asleep in the back of the car, dreaming about his doggie day of fun. Angie and Jason have done a marvelous job of creating a bit of dog heaven in downtown Bellingham.  Playtime, snacks, a howling circle – combined with a friendly professional staff that go out of their way to provide quality care and safety for each canine resident.  Tails-A-Wagging offers a great service to dogs and the people that love them.  What dog wouldn’t want to spend his or her days there?

Mocha Cool Dog: Mocha says
its cold in the morning.
Mocha: Mocha taking a rest
getting ready for more ball

Tails-A-Wagging is not only a first class doggie day care, it is an extremely well run business. Angi, Jason and their staff are consistent, reliable and professional. They are exceptional resources, providing everything from toe-nail clipping ( Mocha won't even let the vet LOOK at her toe-nails, much less cut them ) to suggestions on a diet change, or a solution to a behavioral problem. I love the way that the are calm but still have fun, its like being in a class with a really good teacher. Everyone gets their work done ( chewing on Percy's head, raiding Sophie's toys, sleeping in the "Best Bed" ) and they have fun and follow the rules while they do it. Thank you Tails-A-Wagging, you have made Mocha and her mom very happy!
